Good-Bad Speech

Description

Choose three positive things and three difficult things about a responsibility in life. This can be a paid or volunteer job, a hobby, etc. Students must use at least 3 PowerPoint slides during presentations.

Speeches are not less than three minutes and not more than five minutes.

Objectives

This assignment aims for students to accomplish the following:

bulletto familiarize students with speaking to an audience,
bulletto depend only minimally, if at all, on notes,
bulletto use PowerPoint with at least three slides,
bulletto enhance eye contact,
bulletto express thoughts clearly and concisely, and
bulletto recognize the inherent value of all human beings by demonstrating the importance of effectively and respectfully communicating with all members of society, including women, people with varied cultural backgrounds, people with special needs, and others.

Procedure

Students should follow these guidelines when doing this speech:

bulletPrepare a PowerPoint presentation containing at least three slides to show on the big screen (see PowerPoint tips).
bulletIn 3-5 minutes, explain the three good and three bad aspects.
bulletFollow the speech checklist.
